PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television audience investigation apparatus which aims at television sets switching channels by remote controller, and is easily put into practical use. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a receiving means 102 for receiving a signal outputted from a television remote controller 201, an analyzing means 103 for analyzing the received remote control signal to obtain the audience of a television, a recording means 104 for recording the obtained audience of the television, and a displaying means 105 for displaying a message according to the contents of analysis of the means 103. When the channel of a switching destination is determined by the means 103, the means 105 displays a message including information on the determined channel to enable a viewer to easily confirm whether or not any inconsistency between the channel under view recognized by the apparatus and a channel being actually viewed on television, thereby providing a chance of correcting the inconsistency in result of recognition to the viewer.
