METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COATING REMOVAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently removing coating residues (ribbon coating) left outside a coated optical fiber cut and separated as a single unit from a ribbon of coated optical fibers. SOLUTION: A coating removing apparatus 10 is usable for a coating removing method of decreasing the sticking force of coating residues sticking outside the coated optical fiber 3 by sliding and moving a couple of grip members 11 and 12 along the length of the coated optical fiber while clamping the coated optical fiber 3 cut and separated as the single unit from the ribbon of coated optical fibers between the couple of grip members 11 and 12 and for the coating removing method by clamping the coated optical fiber 3 between the grip members 11 and 12 with the energizing force of an energizing member 14.
