PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera with a function capable of suppressing the occurrence of white nose like vertical streaks and suppressing signal shading due to a clamp mistake of a black level even when an interlace reading system imaging device of n:1 (n is a natural number≥3) is used. SOLUTION: The electronic camera is provided with: the interlace reading imaging device (4) of n:1 (n is the natural number≥3) capable of reading electric charges of a plurality of two-dimensionally arranged photodiodes to the outside via a transfer path; an unnecessary electric charge sweeping means (7) for transferring unnecessary electric charges stored in the transfer path during a period of time from termination of exposure of the imaging device to reading of the electrodes of the photodiodes to the transfer path at normal speed; a signal reading means (7) which reads the electric charge of the photodiodes to the outside of the imaging device after sweeping the unnecessary electric charges; and a conversion means (5) which converts a signal read by the signal reading means into a video signal.
