摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a running controller for an automobile capable of preventing a driver from receiving sense of incongruity and sense of anxiety for unexpected deceleration when he/she performs deceleration control based on road information in the direction of advance of own vehicle and he/she does not perceive deceleration factor. <P>SOLUTION: This running controller has a means for determining target speed based on a running position of own vehicle and road information within a predetermined distance in the direction of advance of own vehicle and a means for storing target deceleration at two steps or more. When target speed is lower than own vehicle speed, deceleration of own vehicle is controlled using at least two target deceleration among stored target deceleration at two steps or more. For example, when there is a sharp curve on top of uphill, the driver does not recognize the existence of the curve, and deceleration control without driver's brake operation is performed in accordance with road situation in the direction of course, the driver does not receive sense of incongruity and sense of anxiety to perform comfortable and highly reliable deceleration control. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p>
