DIGITAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM AND DATA PROCESSING METHOD

A digital broadcasting system and a data processing method are provided to perform an additional encoding process on enhanced data to improve the receiving performance of a receiver. A frame of Kc(columns)ÎN(rows) byte-size is formed by collecting K rows, wherein each of the rows is constituted of N bytes of enhanced data. A first encoding process is performed on the frame. A second encoding process is performed on the first-encoded frame. The enhanced data and main data within the second-encoded frame are multiplexed, and the multiplexed data are transmitted. In the first encoding process, at least one of error correction encoding and error detection encoding is performed by the frame unit.
