<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive unit which can effectively clean a removable disk after it is loaded in the disk drive unit. <P>SOLUTION: The disk drive unit records and/or reproduces data to or from the removable optical disk 1 with a flying head 23 having a slider 234 for floating. In the disk drive unit, the sticking condition of the dust on the optical disk 1 is detected by discriminating the signal state of a reproduced signal of the flying head 23 after loading the optical disk 1 with the flying head 23, a servo circuit 42 causes the flying head 23 to perform cleaning seek, and the optical disk is consequently cleaned by the slider 234 for floating in a manner such that the dust is swept. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
