<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element which can suppress generation of interference fringes even if a light source of high light emission efficiency having high emission lines is used, and which can improve display quality and provides high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element is constituted by arranging a transparent electrode substrate 2 having a transparent electrode layer 6 and an integrated circuit substrate 3 having a pixel electrode layer 10 formed with a plurality of pixel electrodes 10A so as to face each other and by sealing a liquid crystal layer between the two substrates. The counter surface side of the transparent electrode layer is provided with ruggedness of a size greater than the area of one pixel of the pixel electrodes over the entire surface thereof in order to suppress the generation of the interference fringes. As a result, the interference fringes generated due to the nonuniformity of cell gaps disappear as the generation conditions thereof are destroyed by the ruggedness disposed on the substrate of the substrate. Consequently, the interference fringes are turned into the state of being finely divided on the surface of the substrate and the element has an effect of making the interference fringes hardly recognizable in projected videos. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
