METHOD AND DIGITAL CAMERA FOR INDICATING THAT IMAGE DATA OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECT HAS BEEN CAPTURED

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a digital camera for determining whether image data sufficient for creating a complete three-dimensional image representation have been captured. SOLUTION: The camera captures the image of an object from an initial perspective. Based on image data related to the initial image, discontinuous edges of the object are identified for the initial perspective. The camera continues capturing image data of the object by capturing the images from different perspectives until a complete set of image data is obtained. When even a single discontinued edge cannot be resolved, another image of the object is captured from another perspective. When all of the discontinued edges are resolved, the camera indicates that the image data have been completely captured, using an indicator. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
