PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reproducing the color of a merchandise image through a communication network, by which the color is correctly reproduced under a different environment by converting the color in consideration of the illumination light of an actual observation environment. SOLUTION: The color is reproduced based on spectroscopic information with respect to a color reproducing system under a conventional specified observation environment through the use of the method for reproducing the color of the merchandise image through the communication network. For example, the image of the merchandise 11 is photographed by a camera 12 under a light source #1 (13) by an RGB color reproducing system. Then the obtained RGB value is converted into spectroscopic reflectance, made to correspond to an observation light source #2 (20), and, then, returned to the RGB value again, so that the color is reproduced.
