PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network filing system capable of retrieving and using the storage data of a multifunctional device on a network. SOLUTION: A device A requests, on receipt of input of a retrieval condition of document image data, the acquisition of a device list to a device management device. The device management device forms a list of device ID with on-status, and returns it. The device A transmits inquiry data to all devices included in the list. A device X (A, C, D) extracts the file name of a document file fitted to the inquiry condition in reference to a document directory, and transmits it to the device A. The device A displays a list of the retrieval result. When document information is selected from the list, and a document acquisition button is pressed, the selected file name is transmitted to the device X. The device X takes out the document image data of the corresponding file name from a document storage part and transmits them to the device A. The device A prints out the document file.
