摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which high position precision cannot be secured for a conventional optical fiber array as long as optical fibers are positioned based upon their external diameters even when pitch precision and hole diameter precision of a positioning component are made high. SOLUTION: In a method for positioning and fixing a plurality of optical fibers, a flat plate type substrate provided with a plurality of recessed hollow holes 32 in a specified array and an optical fiber fixing member provided with a plurality of through holes 42 in the same array with the hollow holes, are put one over the other so that the centers of the respective hollow holes and the centers of the respective through holes meet each other. Tip core parts of the plurality of optical fibers 20 are processed into a convex shape and fitted in the hollow holes through the through holes of the optical fiber fixing member.
