PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a beam shaping device that prevents damages in a lens portion. SOLUTION: In the beam shaping device 5, there are provided a substrate 7 having a recess 8 on the surface and a lens 9 for shaping a configuration of beam emitted from a light source arranged in the recess 8 not to protrude from the surface of the substrate 7. Consequently, the surface of the lens 9 is positioned at a position lower than the substrate surface, so that the lens 9 is hardly damaged even if a variety of operations such as handling the device 5 are performed to the device 5, thereby preventing the damages in the lens 9.
