The baling press (1) has a vertical press shaft with side walls (e.g. 3a) and a bottom. It is filled through a filling aperture (7) closable by a flap (6), which turns on an axis (9). There is a filling cavity (13) in front of the filling aperture, arranged so that when the flap turns to the closed position, it passes completely through the filling cavity, emptying it into the press shaft.
