The lower roller at the sliver drawing unit, for a spinning machine, has a profiled surface (13) in sections as flutes and the like. The profiled surface structures are on sleeves (6) which are fitted around the roller shaft (1) by a release mounting, using facing wedge profiles (5) in a friction fit with each other. The wedges also act as an overload safety system. One wedge profile in each pair can be at an exchangeable sleeve for replacement on wear. Key surfaces (14) give a locking/unlocking action.
