Control logic for an automated mechanical transmission system (100) allows signals indicative of input shaft (IS) and output shaft (OS) rotational speed to be utilized to determine engagement of a target fear ratio (GRT) without false readings caused by engine synchronizing. To engage a target gear ratio when the transmission is in neutral with the master clutch engaged, the engine is fuelled to cause engine speed (ES) to equal a speed offset, and not within, true synchronous speed for engaging the target ration by a first offset value equal to about +60 or-60, preferably about -60 RMP (ES = IS (OS*GRT) + X), while engagement of the target ratio (GRT) is declared if input shaft speed (IS) is within a second offset value, smaller that the first offset value (¦X¦ > ¦Y¦), about +/- 20 RPM, for a predetermined period of time (((OS*GRT) -Y)≤IS≤((OS*GRT) + Y)).
|
