Method for configuration of the base structure of a graphic user surface whereby configuration data is provided from a base configuration file (110) to generate a graphic user interface (160) of a monitoring unit or control unit, especially of a household appliance. The base structure includes device-specific static detail from a device-specific configuration file (130) and dynamic data provided by the device to be controlled in conjunction with data from a configuration file (120). The invention also relates to a corresponding circuit arrangement for method implementation.
