N-(Amino- or hydroxy-higher alk(en)yl)-N-(phenylalk(en)yl)-amines (I) are new Secondary or tertiary amines of formula (I) and their acid addition salts (specifically with hydrochloric, sulfuric, nitric, phosphoric, succinic, fumaric, lactic, glycolic, citric or tartaric acid), isomers and stereoisomers are new. R1 = optionally unsaturated 1-8C alkyl, CN, OR11, SR11, NR11R12, COR11, COOR11, CONR11R12, NR11COR12, NR11CONR12R13, CF3 or halo; R11 - R13 = H, 1-4C alkyl or aryl (optionally substituted by OR, NRR', COOR or CF3); R, R' = H or 1-4C alkyl; R2 = optionally unsaturated 1-4C alkyl; W = 2-4C n-alkylene or 2-4C n-alkenylene; X = OR11 or NR11R12; Y = 11-20C alkylene or 11-20C alkenylene; m = 0-5. An Independent claim is included for compositions for topical application to the skin, comprising a physiologically acceptable medium containing at least one compound (I), in which W may additionally be CH2, or its acid addition salt, isomer or stereoisomer.
