The invention relates to a gas valve, in particular, having electromagnetic actuation and comprising a valve closing element (14). This valve closing element controls a flow of gas from an inflow side to an outflow side (34) and interacts with a valve seat (26), which is formed on a valve plate (62) having at least one flow-through opening that leads to the outflow side (34). The invention provides that the inflow side is joined downstream to an inner (22) and to an outer (20) pressure area. These pressure areas (20, 22) are located upstream from the valve seat (26), and the inner pressure area (22) has an axial pressure channel (19) of the valve closing element (14) that exits on the free face (24) of the valve closing element (14), and the outer pressure area (24) surrounds the valve closing element (14).
