<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide mesocarbon microbeads (MCMB) having high density, high strength, excellent chemical resistance, excellent heat resistance and the like and applicable to uses such as special carbon materials and a lithium secondary battery anode material. <P>SOLUTION: The MCMB crude product covered with pitch component of 0.01-1μm thickness and neither adhering nor coagulating each other is obtained by heat-treating coal heavy oil, centrifuging the obtained, adding 0.1-20 times, based on crude MCMB weight, tar middle oil having 100-500°C boiling point, performing washing-treatment at 10-300°C for 0.1-20 h. The pitch component uniformly covering the periphery of MCMB sphere performs same functions as a binder applied in molding, so a step for mixing the binder with isolated MCMB is omitted and a homogeneous molded carbon product and a homogeneous molded graphite product are obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
