METHOD FOR QUICKLY AND EASILY MEASURING CONCENTRATION OF CADMIUM CONTAINED IN MINUTE AMOUNT IN FOOD BY USING PROMPT GAMMA-RAY ANALYSIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to food sanitation fields by enabling to rapidly and easily measure Cd concentration in foods without special techniques because of such advantages that chemical preparations and the like are not needed.

SOLUTION: In a prompt gamma-ray analysis, a provided method reduces influence of Compton components of H acting as noise factors by cutting neutrons in a region lower than a peak value of an absorption cross-sectional area of Cd by using a Gd foil or a chopper. Alternatively, in accordance with focusing on a phenomenon that113Cd simultaneously emits two prompt gamma-rays with high intensity, a provided method does not detect gamma-ray from H by combining a multiple gamma-ray detecting method and the prompt gamma-ray analysis method.
