PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost solar cell substrate with shunting therein suppressed.
SOLUTION: The solar cell substrate is manufactured by forming a silicon film by the liquid phase growth method on a silicon substrate, which contains 15μg of iron in 1 g of its silicon, sliced out of an ingot formed by casting a metallic silicon material. The amount of impurity in a substrate, which is sliced out of a polycrystalline ingot obtained by melting the metallic silicon material and then by letting it coagulate unidirectionally, affects shunting in a solar cell, with the amount of impurity dependent on what part of the ingot the substrate is sliced out. In this process of manufacturing a solar cell which uses a film formed by the liquid phase growth method on a metallic silicon substrate, a substrate suitable for solar cell manufacturing is selected in advance by application of the substrate acceptance criterion.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
|
