PURPOSE: A horizontal tailgate lifter is provided to improve an opening feeling by installing the lifter in a hinge part and to reduce the manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: A horizontal tailgate lifter comprises a gas cylinder(10) having rectilinear expanding force; a moving shaft(20) forming a hollow inside, having a spiral protrusion(24) inside the hollow, and rectilinearly moving together with the gas cylinder; a first rotating shaft(40) having a spiral groove(42) corresponding to the spiral protrusion, to the outside and rotating by the rectilinear movement of the moving shaft; a decelerating unit decelerating the rotation transmitted to the first rotating shaft, to increase torque transmitted and transmitting the rotation to a second rotating shaft(54); and a bracket(60) one side of which is fixed to the tailgate and the other side is fixed to the second rotating shaft, to transmit the rotation of the second rotating shaft to the tailgate. The moving shaft is attached to the gas cylinder. The first rotating shaft is inserted in the hollow of the moving shaft.
