<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the power consumption in a waiting state and the call waiting period at the arrival of an incoming call. <P>SOLUTION: A reception section 104 intermittently receives a paging indicator (hereinafter called 'PI') via an antenna 102, demodulates the PI and outputs it to a reception signal level measurement section 106. The reception signal level measurement section 106 measures a received signal level R of the demodulated PI and provides an output of the result to an incoming call discrimination section 110. The incoming call discrimination section 110 compares the measured received signal level R with a threshold Th denoting a value of the signal level of the PI, discriminates the presence / absence of incoming call on the basis of the result of comparison, and outputs the result of discrimination to an incoming call sequence control section 112. A threshold adjustment section 108 adjusts the threshold Th used for the comparison with the received signal level R and provides an output to the incoming call discrimination section 110.
