<p>A sensor system (2) for single or multi-phase power lines (8) of an electrical network comprises a line sensor (10) attached to each phase of the power line to sample power line current and/or voltage and/or temperature at time intervals and digitize the samples. The line sensors are attached to the power line without breaking the line and are powered by a built-in power supply requiring no electrical connection external to the line sensor. Each sensor is ungrounded, floats at line voltage and comprises a transmitter to transmit the digitized data substantially simultaneously with the sampling of current and/or voltage and/or temperature to a collector (12), which processes the data to derive power system parameters of the electrical network.</p> |
