PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an experimental animal for elucidating a precise molecular mechanism of dystrophin and its bound protein conjugate in transmission of optical signals in the retina, and to provide a method for producing the experimental animal and a method for utilizing the animal. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a syrian hamster in which onlyδ-sarcoglycan (δ-SG) gene is delated, more particularly a syrian hamster obtained by hybridizing BIO14.6 hamster having cardiomyopathy with a normal golden hamster, in which a tyrosinase gene andβB1-crystallin gene are normal and only theδ-SG gene is delated, and a method for producing the hamster.
