PURPOSE: Provided is a cosmetic composition containing Berberin Glycyrrhizinate as an active ingredient. The composition is useful for cosmetics having excellent anti-aging, skin protection and skin whitening effects, therapeutics for treating over-pigmentation, and food additives for inhibiting browning. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition is characterized by containing as an active ingredient, 0.0001-20.0 wt.% of berberin glycyrrhizinate which is an ion-pair precipitate of berberine chloride with ammonium glycyrrhizinate, sodium glycyrrhizinate or potassium glycyrrhizinate. The cosmetic composition is used for skin whitening.
