PURPOSE: A surface modification method of sintered stainless steel for dental implants is provided to enhance the corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and abrasion resistance using electron-beam physical vapor deposition. CONSTITUTION: The surface modification method of sintered stainless steel for dental implants comprises the steps of: electroless plating a sintered stainless steel with 2 to 10 wt.% of Cu; and depositing Ti and TiN, respectively to the sintered and Cu-plated stainless steel using an electron-beam physical vapor deposition apparatus. The sintered stainless steel wherein a dense Ti/TiN multi-layered coating film is formed, has the increased corrosion potential and the decreased current density, thereby forming a wide range passive film.
