PURPOSE: A pathogen-inducible NgCDM1 protein isolated from Nicotiana glutinosa, a gene encoding the same, and a promoter thereof are provided, which protein and gene are useful as a protein or gene marker for determining disease resistance of plants. CONSTITUTION: A pathogen-inducible NgCDM1 protein isolated from Nicotiana glutinosa has the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 2. A gene encoding the pathogen-inducible NgCDM1 protein isolated from Nicotiana glutinosa has the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1. A promoter of NgCDM1 gene has the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 3. An expression vector containing the NgCDM1 gene and the promoter is provided. A transformant containing the expression vector which contains the NgCDM1 gene and the promoter is provided. A method for screening nucleic acids or proteins capable of interacting with the NgCDM1 protein; analogues of the NgCDM1 gene; or analogues of the NgCDM1 protein using the promoter of NgCDM1 gene as a probe is provided.
