A mounting arrangement for a number of rotary cam switches comprises plates 1a, 1b carrying the switch spindles 6 and clamping between them an insulating base carrying moving contact arms 5a and fixed contacts 5b, the arms 5a being operable by cams 6b mounted on the spindles 6. The base consists of a number of sections 4a separated by grooves 4c which allow the base to be sectionalized as desired, and each section 4a has a window 4d to show the contact positions. Each spindle 6 carries a square cam 6c cooperating with a spring-loaded roller 6d to fix each switch position. The two switches on the right of Fig. 1 have integral centrally-supported contact arms 5d connected to common terminals 5e, the groove 4c being omitted in this case. The contacts are fixed by hollow rivets 5c which serve as terminals for connecting leads such as 7a and other external leads, Fig. 2 (not shown). An alternative method of securing the contacts is also described, Figs. 6, 7 and 8 (not shown). The plates 1a 1b may each be formed by a flange of an angle section, the remaining flanges extending towards each other to close the top of the arrangement, Fig. 9 (not shown). The arrangement of Fig. 1 may be combined with a time switch and thermostats, gear-wheels connecting the operating parts of a switch and one of the thermostats, Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown). The plates 1a 1b may have closely-spaced holes to allow the switches to be mounted at any desired intervals, Fig. 12 (not shown). |
