METHOD FOR CERTIFYING FINGERPRINT BY USING COMBINATION OF GLOBAL AND LOCAL CHARACTERISTIC INFORMATION OF FINGERPRINT IMAGE

PURPOSE: A method for certifying a fingerprint by using a combination of global and local characteristic information of a fingerprint image is provided to correctly certify the fingerprint by using the first certification for the global information through an SVM(Support Vector Machine) classifier and the second certification for a local characteristic through a characteristic point matching device. CONSTITUTION: The fingerprint is obtained/registered through a fingerprint input device, and the global and the local characteristic information of the registered fingerprint are obtained(402). An SVM is generated by using the fingerprints of a user and other users. It is checked that the input fingerprint is identical with the registered fingerprint by the SVM classifier using the extracted global characteristic information used as input(406). It is checked that the input fingerprint is the registered fingerprint by comparing the extracted local characteristic information with the local characteristic information of the registered fingerprint(407). A final fingerprint certification result is drawn out by combining the first and the second checking result(408).
