The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a dressing for automobi le interiors involving the formation of a bedding that includes at feast one intermediate layer made of a low-density material, at least one reinforcemen t layer applied onto at least one of the surfaces of the intermediate layer, t o which it is attached by a thermosetting resin, and a decorative lining layer on on e of the free surfaces. The process includes the step of subjecting a blanket mad e of a fibrous material to a preliminary bonding process which includes the st ep of impregnating the blanket with a thermosetting resin and subjecting the blank et to a subsequent setting process to cause at least a partial polymerisation o f the resin so as to make the blanket semi-rigid in order to facilitate the handli ng of the blanket during the following stages of the process.
