PURPOSE: A composition of cylinder liner for automobile is provided to reduce forming process and cost and improve product quality by installing a heat insulation furnace for maximizing inoculation effect and varying mold temperature, injection temperature, constituents of molten iron and material and coating thickness of releasing agent, a method for manufacturing cylinder liner using the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: The composition comprises Fe as a principal constituent, 2.7 to 3.5 wt.% of C, 1.6 to 2.6 wt.% of Si, 0.5 to 1.0 wt.% of Mn, 0.1 to 0.4 wt.% of P, 0.12 wt.% or less of S and 0.1 to 0.4 wt.% of Cr. The method is characterized in that the cylinder liner is manufactured by expansion molding the automobile cylinder liner containing Fe as a principal constituent, 2.7 to 3.5 wt.% of C, 1.6 to 2.6 wt.% of Si, 0.5 to 1.0 wt.% of Mn, 0.1 to 0.4 wt.% of P, 0.12 wt.% or less of S and 0.1 to 0.4 wt.% of Cr to a cylinder block using die casting process in the state that the outer diameter surface of the cylinder liner is contacted with molding sand, wherein a mold temperature is set to 300 deg.C by installing a heat insulation furnace during molding, wherein an injection temperature of molten iron is set to 1,450 to 1,470 deg.C during molding, wherein a releasing agent applied to mold during molding is bentonite, and wherein a coating thickness of the cylinder liner is set to 1 to 1.5 mm during molding.
