<p>A battery can (2) is composed of a can main body (3) formed with a recess (31) for receiving electrode bodies (5), and a metal cover (4) sealing the open end of the recess in this can main body. The can main body is dish-shaped by shallow-drawing a metal sheet. The peripheral edge of the open end of this can main body is provided with a flange (32) capable of maintaining the interior of the recess gas tight and liquid tight by being integrally joined to the metal cover. This makes it possible to provide a battery of novel construction that, in achieving the thinning the battery, is capable of solving the problems liable to occur in all aspects including shape, attaching ease, strength, and productivity, all at once.</p> |
