A communication device capable of performing gain control without deteriorating the S/N ratio of the signal after diversity processing. The communication device includes a comparator (11) for comparing gain set values calculated and output by AGC controllers (10a, 10b) of the respective branches and converters (1004a, 1004b) for generating gain adjusting signals corresponding to the respective branches from the gain set values obtained in the comparator (11), so that gain control of variable gain amplifiers (5a, 5b) of the respective branches is performed by the gain adjusting signals from the converters (1004a, 1004b).
