A hot dip coated steel product comprising a steel product and, formed on the surface thereof, a Zn alloy coating layer having a chemical composition: Al: 4 to 22 mass %, Mg: 1 to 5 mass %, Ti: 0.000001 to 0.1 mass %, Si: 0.000001 to 0.5 mass %, and the balance: Zn and inevitable impurities, characterized in that the alloy coating layer has a structure wherein [Mg2Si phase], [Al phase], [Zn2Mg phase] and [Zn phase] are present in a base material of [Al/Zn/Zn2Mg ternary eutectic structure] in a state of being mixed with one another and wherein a Ti-Al based intermetallic compound is incorporated int o [Al phase] and/or [Zn2Mg phase] and/or [Zn phase]. The hot dip coated steel product has high resistance to corrosion and further can achieve excellent surface smoothness and also excellent formability. |
