PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a physical distribution device capable of maximizing storage quantity without deteriorating work efficiency. SOLUTION: This physical distribution device 1 comprises a plurality of shelves 2A-2D, and 4A-4R, a stacker crane 6 provided to be movable along opening faces of the shelves to carry articles into/out of the shelves, and a traverser 5 provided to be movable perpendicularly to a moving direction of the stacker crane 6. In the physical distribution device 1, the shelves are disposed on both sides of a moving passage 13 of the traverser.
