PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rocker part structure for a side panel of an automobile which prevents collapse of a cross section in vehicle side collision and an opening in front collision. SOLUTION: A side outer panel 1 is divided into a thick rocker panel part 2 forming lower edge parts of door openings 1a, 1b and remaining outer panel part 1'. The rocker panel part 2 includes an upper flange part 2a connected to a lower edge part 1g of the outer panel part 1' by welding, a horizontal part 2b roughly horizontally extending to a vehicle lateral direction outside from the flange part 2a, a projection part 2c extending downward from an outer edge of the horizontal part 2b, and a lower flange part 2d formed on an inner edge of the projection part 2c. An extension part 1h connecting to the lower edge part 1g of the outer panel part 1' and extending with overlapping a lower surface of the horizontal part 2b is formed, and the extension part 1h and the horizontal part 2b are jointed by welding.
