PURPOSE: An electric arc welding machine and a control method of a welding process of the welding machine are provided to enable exactly reflect thermal reaction without correction and control of the welding process by a worker on the spot without a mistake. CONSTITUTION: An electric arc welding machine(10) executes a welding process by a selected current waveform executed between an electrode(24) and a work piece(26). The electric arc welding machine includes a controller(30) having a digital processor; a sensor(44) reading an instantaneous weld current; and a circuit converting the instantaneous weld current into a digital display value a level of the instantaneous weld current. The digital processor includes program circuits periodically reading the digital display value at predetermined speed and executing squaring; registers adding the squared digital display value of the number of N and providing an added value; and algorithms constituting an rms signal(40) indicating an effective value of the weld current in a digital type by periodically dividing the added value by N to provide a share and obtaining a square root of the share.
