PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the circulating fluidity of particles in a fluidized bed vessel, especially the flow condition of the particles in a draft tube to be a spray zone and in a section where the particles are apt to be retained exactly in real time. SOLUTION: Detection light X emitted from a light projection sensor 9a, when there is no particle in the optical path, is received directly by a light receiving sensor 9b, but, when the particles exist in the optical path, the light is scattered by the particles and prevented from being received by the light receiving sensor 9b. Therefore, from the quantity of the light received by the sensor 9b, the concentration of the particles in the optical path of the detection light X can be measured in real time. From the measured value, The quantity of the particles flowing in the draft tube 5 and the quantity of the particles circulating and flowing in the fluidized bed vessel 3 can be calculated.
