<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization system and method with a heat pump operated vaporizer/liquefier. <P>SOLUTION: A chemical vapor sterilization process is enhanced by concentrating a germicide via liquefying and re-vaporization thereof, utilizing the difference between the vapor pressures of the germicide and its solvent to extract some of the solvent during the liquefying process.
