<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element which is so set that astigmatism of transmitting light is not more than a predetermined set value and is easily manufactured, and also to provide an optical pickup device equipped with the optical element. <P>SOLUTION: This optical element 50 is equipped with a 1st member 51 which transmits light and has a 1st surface 51a and a 2nd surface 51b slanting to the 1st surface and a 2nd member 52 which transmits light, differs in refractive index from the 1st member, and has a 3rd surface 52a and a 4th surface 52b slanting to the 3rd surface. Further, the 1st surface of the 1st member and the 4th surface of the 2nd member are parallel and the angle α at which the 1st surface of the 1st member slants to the 2nd surface and the angle α at which the 3rd surface of the 2nd member slants to the 4th surface are so set that astigmatism that light transmitted from the 1st surface of the 1st member to the 3rd surface of the 2nd member and light transmitted from the 4th surface of the 2nd member to the 1st surface of the 1st member generate is not more than the predetermined set value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
