PURPOSE: An automatic search system and a method for determining conversion between a satellite television frequency and a CATV(Cable Television) frequency and a conversion table and a method for generating the same are provided to reduce the installation time by connecting a cable television frequency having a QAM signal with a satellite television frequency. CONSTITUTION: A cable television frequency is synchronized with a satellite television frequency. Satellite service data including a mark of the satellite television frequency are read from the cable television frequency. The mark related to the cable television frequency is stored into a conversion table. The above processes for other cable frequency are performed repeatedly. A CATV synchronizer(10) synchronizes a CATV channel. A QAM digital demodulator(12) demodulates a QAM signal from the CATV synchronizer(10). A conversion controller(14) controls the QAM digital demodulator(12).
