COLD CATHODE ELECTRON SOURCE AND DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode electron source for stabilizing an electron emission current and a flat panel type display device for achieving high image quality by using the cold cathode electron source.

SOLUTION: The electron source comprises an electron emission part 23 containing a carbon nanotube to emit electrons by an operation of an electric field; a cathode electrode 22 and an electron extracting electrode 25 facing each other so as to grasp the electron emission part 23 and adding the electric field to the electron emission part 23; an isolating member 24 having a plurality of through-holes 27 between the cathode electrode 22 and the electron extracting electrode 25; and a resistance part 26 with an electrical resistivity of 106to 108Ωcm disposed closer to the electron emission part 23 than the electron extracting electrode 25, electrically connected to the electron extracting electrode 25 and supported by the isolating member 24.
