<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for updating a main controller that eliminates the need for equipment stopping in replacing the existing input-output device with a new input-output device. <P>SOLUTION: In updating a sequencer provided with an input-output device and/or a PLC (programmable logic controller) into a new sequencer and/or PLC, a controller 5 that can be connected to the input-output device of the existing sequencer and/or PLC and the new sequencer and/or PLC by communication is installed.
