PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electrochemical machining which makes it possible to obtain stable machining characteristics and can easily deal with a trend toward higher fineness of electrodes and higher flexibility of the electrodes by using the electrode for electrochemical machining as the electrodes. SOLUTION: Ion exchangers 1 and 2 are formed by chemically bonding an organic compound having an ion exchange group with conductive materials as substrate surfaces. The conductive materials in the ion exchangers 1 and 2 are used as the electrodes 1a and 2a in electrochemical machining. The ion exchange group is at least one among a sulfonic acid group, carboxyl group, quaternary ammonium group, and amino group. The organic compound is thiol or disulfide. The conductive materials 1a and 2a are materials containing at least one among gold, silver, platinum, copper, and indium oxide (III). COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
