PURPOSE: A method for preparing optically pure (R)-form or (S)-form tetrahydro furfuryl alcohol using heterogeneous catalysts is provided, thereby maintaining high optic purity in (R)-form or (S)-form tetrahydro furfuryl alcohol through the continuous hydrogenation using heterogeneous catalysts. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing optically pure (R)-tetrahydro furfuryl alcohol comprises the steps of: continuously passing (R)-2-tetrahydrofuranic acid ester of the formula(1a) through a fixed bed reactor in the presence of heterogeneous catalysts and organic solvent under condition of 0 to 200 deg. C, 100 to 5000 psig and 0.1 to 10h-1 WHSV to selectively hydrogenate the compound of the formula(1a), wherein R is selected from optionally substituted C1 to C30 alkyl or alkenyl, benzyl, C3 to C30 cycloalkyl, optionally substituted C6 to C30 arylalkyl, and optionally substituted C5 to C30 heteroarylalkyl. A method for preparing optically pure (S)-tetrahydro furfuryl alcohol comprises the steps of: continuously passing (S)-2-tetrahydrofuranic acid ester of the formula(1b) through a fixed bed reactor in the presence of heterogeneous catalysts and organic solvent under condition of 0 to 200 deg. C, 100 to 5000 psig and 0.1 to 10h-1 WHSV to selectively hydrogenate the compound of the formula(1b).
