<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating organic materials such as sludge or biomass by a small environmental load method, especially a method for by-producing carbon dioxide in an extremely reduced amount, and for recovering energy held in the organic materials as a fuel gas consisting mainly of hydrogen, methane and the like and capable of being used for gas engines, gas turbines, and cogenerators such as fuel batteries, and to provide a treating apparatus therefor. <P>SOLUTION: This method for reacting organic materials with a gaseous or liquid oxidizing agent in supercritical water to produce hydrogen and lower hydrocarbons comprises making solid granules having a function for catching inorganic salts and/or char to exist in a mixture comprising an organic material-suspended aqueous slurry and the oxidizing agent, retaining the supercritical state of the water, and simultaneously making the solid granules to stay in the reactor in a fluidized state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
