PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select or generate material images suitable for a photographing state when an image is photographed and composing them with the photographed image and to more easily and surely obtain higher level effects with the minimum operations as the operations by a user. SOLUTION: When an object is photographed with an image pickup unit 10, a control unit 20 analyzes photographing states (photographing condition, camera operation state, photographing environment), collates the result of analysis with information indicating attributes of each of a plurality of material images stored in an attribute memory 59 with respect to the plurality of material images recorded in a memory card 57, selects material images to be composed with a photographed image obtained by the unit 10 from among the plurality of material images recorded in the memory card 57, and composes the selected images with the photographed image.
