Trans olefinic glucokinase activators

Described are olefinic amide compounds of formula I, wherein R4 is -C(O)NHR7 or an unsubstituted or monosubstituted five or six membered heteroaromatic ring containing 1 or 2 heteroatoms selected from S and N; and the remaining substituents are as defined herein. The compounds are used in the manufacture of medicaments for the treatment of type II diabetes.
