The multispeed reversing gear has an input shaft (AN), output shaft (AB) and layshafts (K1,K2,KR,KV) installed asymmetrically to one another in the gearcase (G) in such a way that the drive chain is formed from a fixed wheel on the drive shaft and loose wheels installed on two of the layshafts (KV,KR). The middle wheel chain is formed from a fixed wheel on one of the layshafts (KV), a fixed wheel on one of the other layshafts (K2), and a loose wheel on another layshaft. The driven chain is formed from loose wheels on two layshafts (K1,K2) and a fixed wheel on the driven shaft (K3) so that the gear control (S) and change filter (F) can be installed on the outer side of the gearcase.
